2024 Basics of Throwing - Session II

Service Description

Never thrown before but always wanted to try? Or maybe you want a little more focused instruction to improve you throwing skills? This course is perfect for you. We will customize your course to fit your specific needs. Basics of Throwing is designed to cover all the basics of wheel thrown ceramics. Over the course of 8 weeks you will learn to wedge clay, center, throw, trim and glaze pieces. You will leave with multiple pieces that you have crafted and completed yourself. This course is a small group class - up to 6 students* per course. We encourage you to participate with friends or come make friends while you throw! Classes will run from 6p-9p every Monday night for 8 weeks. Tools and 25lbs of clay will be provided. Additional clay will be available for purchase as needed. Glaze and firing costs are included in course fees. Two additional hours per week of open studio work time will be available for participants throughout the course. The outline below gives an overview of what will be covered in the course, however, in keeping class sizes small, there is a lot of flexibility for students to set personal goals for the course and received individualized instruction. Course Overview: Week 1: Introduction to Clay, Centering and Cylinders Week 2: Mugs and Cups Week 3: Trimming + Handles Week 4: Bowls Week 5: Vases + Complex forms Week 6: Glazing Week 7: Working time with Support Week 8: Finishing Touches *Students must be at least 16 years of age.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation and Rescheduling Students may cancel or reschedule a class up to 24 hours prior to the scheduled class time. Failure to give 24-hour notice may result in the loss of the class fee. In the event of an emergency, students may contact the studio to discuss alternative arrangements. Missed Sessions If a student is sick, they should contact the instructor at least 2 hours prior to a scheduled class time to reschedule. A makeup class may be arranged based on availability and at the discretion of the studio. Missed classes are non-refundable. Photography + Video Release By accepting these terms, I hereby grant the Stone + Sparrow Studio permission to use my likeness in a photograph, video, or other digital media (“photo”) in any and all of its publications, including web-based publications, without payment or other consideration. I understand and agree that all photos will become the property of the Stone + Sparrow Studio and will not be returned. I hereby irrevocably authorize Stone + Sparrow Studio to edit, alter, copy, exhibit, publish, or distribute these photos for any lawful purpose. In addition, I waive any right to inspect or approve the finished product wherein my likeness appears. Additionally, I waive any right to royalties or other compensation arising or related to the use of the photo. I hereby hold harmless, release, and forever discharge the Stone + Sparrow Studio from all claims, demands, and causes of action which I, my heirs, representatives, executors, administrators, or any other persons acting on my behalf or on behalf of my estate have or may have by reason of this authorization.
